Tom Summers' stoneware collection captures his fascination with the built environment, transforming personal experiences into vibrant inner worlds. It merges colour exploration with form, seeking a harmonious balance of colour, proportion, and scale to evoke specific moods.

Each unique piece is handcrafted from pigmented stoneware clay slabs, resulting in a one-of-a-kind creation.

These unglazed vessels are treated with a liquid quartz solution post-firing, making them functional and decorative sculptures that repel water.

About the Artist
Tom Summers is a queer ceramic artist and product designer practising out of JamFactory in Adelaide, South Australia.  Working with ceramics since 2018, his distinctive ceramic vessels are one of a kind, each being handbuilt using slabs of clay that have been coloured by pigments infused into the clay before working with it.  

His work contemplates the everyday built environment and warps his experience of place to reflect the vibrant inner world in each of us.  His pieces are an invitation to slow down, contemplate and appreciate the beauty of life.  The work is also as much a colour exploration as it explores form, trying to create a harmonious balance in proportion and scale to create a private, secret inner feeling.
