Sketch Modular Sofa

Fredrik Färg and Emma Blanche's "Sketch" series, initially created for the Swedish Presidency of the EU in 2023, has evolved into modular seating for public spaces. The duo experimented with a carpet overlock machine for scenography, using it unconventionally to stitch together layers of felt and textiles, forming three-dimensional shapes for walls, lamps, podiums, and furniture. The overlock stitch serves both as a constructional element and a design feature. The Thread, launched during Stockholm Design Week 2024, is now available in Hallingdal from Kvadrat, with seven edge colors for architects to create unique combinations.

material

At the launch of The Thread, it is offered in Hallingdal from Kvadrat. The edge is in yarn from Hallingdal, in 7 different colours, all specially selected by Färg & Blanche, so that architects can create striking combinations with Hallingdal's complete textile collection.

The seat is made of FSC certified wood and padding is made of polyether/foam.

Fire classification

All products meet Möbelfakta’s fire requirements. All polyether/foam are tested to Cal TB 117. All standard fabrics meet EN 1021:1 & 2. Other classification, for example BS 5856 (Crib 5) on request, please contact customer support. 

All steel parts are recyclable.

Before we finish the chrome/lacquer all grease/oil is removed by alkaline wash and then sent for destruction. The lacquering is produced by electrostatic epoxy powder coating that gives a minium of waste. The electrostatic chrome (chrome 3) is recyclable. The plastic parts that are used are recyclable by grinding. All upholstery and frames of synthetic material are totally without C.F.C. emissions. All glue is water based.
