A hand-made ceramic vase produced in South London Combines classic shapes and forms with a contemporary glaze effect. References to Morocco can be seen in the repeating studs and ornate handles and by using a terracotta clay body. This vessel is built with rough textural terracotta clay by hand. Glazed with iron oxide and crawling glaze, the pieces are fired to a high temperature to give a lovely toasted deep colour.
About the Artist
Originally a textile designer for luxury fashion brands, Talia James is a ceramicist that uses colour, form and pattern to create contemporary ceramics that reflect her Moroccan heritage and training in Mashiko, Japan.
Stepping away from a perfect factory-produced look, Talia strives to give the material and making process room to come through in the design and tell the story of how they're made; because of this, each piece is handcrafted and unique.
