Comet

Comet is a Johanson classic originating from the 1960s, defined by its softly sculpted, enveloping shell and distinctive pedestal base. Its rounded form creates a comfortable, inviting seat with a strong mid-century character that works equally well in hospitality, lounge and residential interiors. Comet forms part of a family together with Venus.

Fully upholstered armchair with a moulded polyether seat frame and finished or lacquered metal pedestal base.

Metal colours and finishes

The metal base is available in 405 finishes as standard: 195 solid RAL colours with a gloss finish, 195 Structure RAL colours with a matte, lightly textured finish, 15 pearl RAL finishes and chrome.

Sustainability

All steel components are recyclable. Plastic components can be recycled by grinding, synthetic upholstery and frame materials are produced without CFC emissions, and adhesives are water based.

Fire classification

Comet meets Möbelfakta fire requirements. Polyether foam is tested to CAL TB 117 and standard upholstery fabrics meet EN 1021-1 and EN 1021-2. Additional classifications, including BS 5856 Crib 5, are available on request.

Börje Johanson

Börje Johanson set up Johanson Design in 1953 initially sewing cushions. Expansion into furniture followed and for Johanson Design the 1960s are inextricably linked with the classic egg-shaped Venus chair designed by Borje, one of the company’s all-time best-selling items of furniture. Even today Venus remains a much-loved feature in countless bars, restaurants, night clubs, cruise ships, offices and private homes around the world. Börje Johanson went on to design many classics within the Johanson collection.
