Ester 03 Swivel

Ester is a slender, fully upholstered conference chair inspired by a Johanson design from the 1970s. Designer Alexander Lervik discovered the original chair in Johanson’s warehouse and was struck by its comfort, choosing to retain its proportions while updating the design for contemporary interiors.

The gently enveloping back and integrated arms create a comfortable, compact seat suited to meeting rooms, dining, hospitality and workplace environments. Ester is available with a swivel base or timber four-leg base, with additional wheel, tilt and height-adjustment options for the swivel version.

Ester 03 combines the fully upholstered seat with a four-star swivel base, giving the chair a lighter, more functional expression for meeting and conference environments.

The 03 swivel base can also be specified with tilt mechanism and height adjustment, with or without wheels.

Ester is fully upholstered and can be specified in an extensive range of fabrics, leather and artificial leather from leading suppliers.

Customer-specified upholstery can also be accommodated, with no start-up charge for handling non-standard materials.

Materials

Fully upholstered chair with a moulded polyether seat frame, FSC-certified timber and finished or lacquered metal components.

Metal colours and finishes

Metal frames and details are available in 405 finishes as standard:

195 solid RAL colours with a gloss finish
195 Structure RAL colours with a matte, lightly textured finish
15 pearl RAL finishes

Polished aluminium is also available.

Sustainability

All steel components are recyclable. Plastic components can be recycled by grinding, synthetic upholstery and frame materials are produced without CFC emissions, and adhesives are water based.

Fire classification

Ester meets Möbelfakta fire requirements. Polyether foam is tested to CAL TB 117 and standard upholstery fabrics meet EN 1021-1 and EN 1021-2. Additional classifications, including BS 5856 Crib 5, are available on request.

Alexander Lervik

Alexander Lervik is one of Swedens most well known designers, collaborating with a number of national and international producers, including Moroso, Zero, Designhouse Stockholm and Johanson. Though his main focus is lighting, furniture and product design, he also creates concepts for hotel and restaurant interiors and collaborate with fashion brands.

 

Throughout the years, Lervik has received a number of awards, amongst them Red Dot award, Best of The Best at 100% design, +1 Best in show at Stockholm Furniture fair, Utmärkt Svensk Form and the prestigious award Design S. he is represented at Nasjonalmuseum in Oslo, Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the design museum Rhösska in Gothenburg, Sweden.
