Garbo

Garbo is a generously upholstered lounge chair inspired by the elegance of Art Deco and the functional clarity of Bauhaus. Its rounded, enveloping form and distinctive vertical upholstery detailing create a soft, sculptural expression suited to lounge, hospitality, workplace and residential interiors.

Designed by Alexander Lervik, Garbo began as a series of hand-drawn sketches before AI was used to explore the initial three-dimensional form. The design was then manually refined to balance comfort, proportion and function. The name references Greta Garbo and the cultural aesthetic of the early 20th century.

material

FSC-certified timber structure with polyether foam padding and finished or lacquered metal legs. The steel components contain 20–50% recycled Swedish steel.

Metal colours and finishes

Steel legs and metal details are available in 405 finishes as standard: 195 solid RAL colours with a gloss finish, 195 Structure RAL colours with a matte, lightly textured finish, and 15 pearl RAL finishes.

Sustainability

Garbo is designed to be separable, supporting repair and recycling over the life of the chair. All steel components are recyclable, plastic parts can be recycled by grinding, and adhesives are water based.

Fire classification

Garbo meets Möbelfakta fire requirements. Polyether foam is tested to CAL TB 117 and standard upholstery fabrics meet EN 1021-1 and EN 1021-2. Additional classifications, including BS 5856 Crib 5, are available on request.

Alexander Lervik

Alexander Lervik is one of Swedens most well known designers, collaborating with a number of national and international producers, including Moroso, Zero, Designhouse Stockholm and Johanson. Though his main focus is lighting, furniture and product design, he also creates concepts for hotel and restaurant interiors and collaborate with fashion brands.

 

Throughout the years, Lervik has received a number of awards, amongst them Red Dot award, Best of The Best at 100% design, +1 Best in show at Stockholm Furniture fair, Utmärkt Svensk Form and the prestigious award Design S. he is represented at Nasjonalmuseum in Oslo, Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the design museum Rhösska in Gothenburg, Sweden.
