Sketch Modular Sofa

Sketch is a modular seating collection by Stockholm-based design studio Färg and Blanche, developed around the designers’ experimental use of the overlock stitch. Originally created for The Yellow Thread installation during the Swedish Presidency of the European Union in 2023, the collection was further developed for production following its presentation at Stockholm Design Week 2024.

Rather than treating the stitched edge as a decorative detail, Färg and Blanche use it as an integral part of the construction and expression of the furniture. The pronounced overlocked seams trace the generous upholstered forms, creating a tactile contrast between textile and yarn and giving Sketch its distinctive graphic character.

Designed as a flexible modular system, Sketch can be configured as individual chairs, sofas, benches and poufs, with optional armrests allowing different compositions to be created for workplace, hospitality and public interiors.

The edge is in yarn from Hallingdal, in 7 different colours, all specially selected by Färg & Blanche, so that architects can create striking combinations with Hallingdal's complete textile collection.

The seat is made of FSC certified wood and padding is made of polyether/foam.

Fire classification

All products meet Möbelfakta’s fire requirements. All polyether/foam are tested to Cal TB 117. All standard fabrics meet EN 1021:1 & 2. Other classification, for example BS 5856 (Crib 5) on request, please contact customer support. 

All steel parts are recyclable.

Before we finish the chrome/lacquer all grease/oil is removed by alkaline wash and then sent for destruction. The lacquering is produced by electrostatic epoxy powder coating that gives a minium of waste. The electrostatic chrome (chrome 3) is recyclable. The plastic parts that are used are recyclable by grinding. All upholstery and frames of synthetic material are totally without C.F.C. emissions. All glue is water based.
